Blog Entry: Once a year Wedmore remembers its medieval past when it holds its annual Street Fair. Wedmore Street Fair this weekend was generally agreed to be one of the best ever. This was due to the huge range of stalls and entertainment on offer, but was helped, no doubt by the blazing sunshine, which encouraged people to linger at the fair much longer than in past years. The Borough, the main street through Wedmore, replica watches O was closed to traffic from 7.30 on Saturday morning, and by the time the fair started at 10am, the street was lined with stalls. Port Reeves, Paul Hawley and David Tucker, opened the fair, their ceremonial role a reminder that the village has been entitled to hold a market since 1255. The vicar of Wedmore, the Rev Richard Neill, judged the best stall, and then visitors got down to the serious task of browsing through the bric-a-brac, second-hand books and flower stalls or chancing their luck at the pheasant shoot. If all this made people hungry, the Twinning Association set up a French Cafe, Wedmore Harvest Home provided a pig roast and Wedmore Theatre Club's Pimms stall kept everyone refreshed. Cheap Jordan Shoes The theme of the street fair was "A Country Fair" and there were a number of country crafts and activities to enjoy. You could have a go at hurdle making, and Nick Hector invited members of the audience to help shear some very docile sheep. There was plenty of entertainment, too. The country dancers from Wedmore First School put on a dancing display, youngsters from the Hugh Sexey Middle School Orchestra and Choir performed a selection of musical numbers and the Burtle Silver Band played throughout the day. The Street Fair is the major fund raising event for the Wedmore Village Hall Management Committee.
